Frequently Asked Questions
What is your piano tuning service area?
I service areas on Cape Cod. For areas on the Outer Cape beyond a 45-minute drive of Osterville there is a small mileage rate to cover the cost of gas.
What types of pianos do you service?
I tune spinet, upright, and grand pianos. I repair action parts and regulate upright and grand pianos.
I do not repair parts or regulate spinet pianos at this time.
What payment types to you accept?
I accept payment by cash, check, or Venmo at the time of the appointment.
A deposit is requested for larger regulation or repair jobs which will be noted on the quote.
What is my piano worth?
Unfortunately pianos do not appreciate in value the way that antique or other high value items can. Similar to a car, the value of a piano tends to decrease with age, unless it is a rare, in-demand model that has been maintained in like-new condition. Most pianos are considered to have a ‘useful life’ of 30-50 years after which they require refurbishment. In most cases the cost of refurbishment will exceed the value of the finished product unless it is a high-end grand piano (e.g. Steinway). For an estimate of your pianos value and an excellent source of information about buying, selling, and refurbishing pianos, I recommend Piano Buyer.
