Appointment Policy
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to a fee of 50% of the cost of the scheduled service.
For your tuning appointment, please ensure there is someone present at the appointment, the piano is fully accessible (note the lids will need to be removed), and the area is quiet.
Deposits & Payment Timeframes
Payment Types Accepted: Cash, Credit Card, Check, Venmo.
Tuning and Repair Appointments: No deposit necessary. Payment is requested at the appointment or within 24 hours of the appointment, paid via my website.
Appraisals: A minimum deposit of $125 is required in advance of works being undertaken, depending on the number of instruments in scope. Full payment is required in advance of the final appraisal report being issued.
Regulations: Shorter, in-home regulation appointments do not require a deposit. For longer, workshop-based regulation assignments, a deposit of 50% of the quoted value is required in advance or works being undertaken, with the balance due upon completion.
Appraisal and Regulations Timeframes
Due to the varying scope and complexity of these assignments, timeframes will vary. We will agree a mutually acceptable timeframe before a deposit is accepted and work undertaken.
Repair Policy
A note on diagnosing and solving functional issues in a piano. A problem such as a ‘sticking key’ can have many causes. Some causes, such as a pencil that has fallen inside the piano, can be very quickly diagnosed and corrected. Other causes may be much more complex to diagnose and repair, requiring hours of labor and parts. This can only be determined by inspecting the piano.
My approach is to discuss with the client the best course of action. Simple repairs that can be quickly done as part of a tuning appointment in 10 minutes or less, will not be chargeable. Repair time exceeding this will be chargeable at an hourly rate, prorated to 15 minute increments.
For standalone diagnosis and repair appointments, there will be a minimum charge of $50.
Repairs requiring more extensive work, will be discussed with the client in advance and a quote will be provided.
